The pancreas and bile duct are situated in the middle of the human abdomen, encircled by significant blood vessels. Lesions that eventually emerge are the much dreaded “biliary tract cancer” and “pancreatic cancer.” On top of it, these tumors cannot be surgically removed because they are often accompanied by blood vessel invasion. Even if they are surgically removed, relapse is a likely occurrence, drastically shortening patients’ survival period.
